Main Achievements

o BibloAmigos secured a generous donation of $36 billion pesos from the Santo Domingo family for the construction of the fourth main library, located in the city’s north end.

o Rentals of spaces at the main libraries have provided revenues of over $977 million pesos. All of these funds have been used to purchase supplies and to supportBibloRed projects .

o The Alpandes Foundation of Lausanne (Switzerland) made a donation of $540 million pesos to BibloAmigos to purchase the children’s collection for the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Cultural Center Public Library .

o In 2002, the association applied for and won an Access to Learning Award from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. BibloRed used the close to $2 billion pesos in award money to develop the library system’s computer network.
