Projects
BibloAmigos’ projects have the sole objective of strengthening the Capital Public Library Network. As such, the projects seek to raise the public’s awareness of the library network and secure resources for their strengthening.
Julio Mario Santo Domingo Cultural Center Public Library
Thanks to a generous donation from the Santo Domingo Family, BibloAmigos is building a fourth main library for the BibloRed network. This library is being built on land allocated by the city in the San José de Bavaria Park (Calle 170 with Carrera 64).
The center will have a state-of-the-art theater and 5.5-hectares of parkland with broad walkways, winding paths, and children’s playgrounds.
The project was designed by architect Daniel Bermudez, who has also designed the projects for the El Tintal Public Library and the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University.
Basic Collection for the Fourth Main Library
BibloAmigos secured the resources needed to build the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Cultural Center Public Library. To match this donation, BibloAmigos must provide the basic collection for the library, consisting of 35,000 volumes.
The goal is to raise $1.68 billion pesos, to cover the cost of 24,000 books.
Commemorative Book
The book Bogotá, la ciudad de las bibliotecas, was published after Unesco named Bogotá World Book Capital 2007-2008.
The book was conceived by BibloAmigos as a tribute to the city for the different activities to encourage books and reading that recent city governments have implemented.
Sunday Expeditions
The first Sunday of every month, a free, guided tour is offered of the art collections at the National Museum, the Bank of the Republic and the Virgilio Barco Library.
